I didn't expect to be as busy as I am!
Week 2 has been a success, thus far. I have read more of my literary material, which is far more interesting than I previously anticipated, I have done some practice shooting at home, I have researched inspiration for my shoots, I have talked to Ed and we came up with a time for an upcoming shoot that works for him, and I have begun working on my storyboard! All in all, I'm happy with how things have been going so far. There is a lot of technical stuff being done for my project right now, I just can't wait until I get out in the field and take photos! Although I find that I have been spending by far the majority of my day working, even when I wake up early to take my little sister to school, there are still so many distractions, especially in the form of social media, but it's okay, I'm learning. Today a blog was born.
It is day 2 of the 3rd trimester, day 2 of the commencement of my Senior Project, and my to do list is already incredibly hectic. I'm still adjusting to life without the structure that school provides, yet still trying to be productive. I find that school was so much easier; I wake up early every day, I go to a place very limited in the distractions that electronics provide, and I get work done, a lot of it. At home, I'm constantly reminding myself that I can't be treating this like a vacation. I need to wake up early, sit down at my desk, and work, despite all of the distractions that home provides, and I can't do other things until my work is done. This is something I'm going to have to get really good at really quickly, as most of my work will be done from home; editing, planning, blogging, reading, with the exception of my check-ins with Mrs. Preuss and the actual photography sessions. Since my project isn't an internship where I will physically be every day to work, I have to be really diligent and disciplined in this. Yesterday I spent all day re-organizing my room, especially the area around my desk. to create a space for myself in which I can concentrate best in, as this will be my work space for the next 12 weeks, and I need to treat it as just that. Although it sounds rather mundane and odd that my very first step in my senior project was to, in essence, clean my room, I think that without a space to get a lot of work done efficiently, I'll face great issues with getting all of my tasks done in a timely manner throughout these 12 weeks. That was all yesterday. Today was spent creating my blog, and contacting my on-site advisers to get a plan going for the first photography session, and I will discuss the objectives of this photography session in next week's blog post! Other than that, the rest of this week will be spent reading up on my literary material, looking for a new computer (hopefully one that doesn't freeze every 10 min when using Photoshop), and communicating with my on-site advisers, as well as my BASIS adviser. I will keep you all posted! -L (AKA, a newborn blogger) |
